Why
Computer simulations are used to gain insights into how a real-world process, system or an event-series works.
How
Model the soft- or hardware system or its environment. Hardware can be simulated to enable all kinds of analysis such as mechanical, electrical, and so on. Simulation parts can also be connected to real system elements. A simulation allows you to run an experiment many times with different parameters.
Ingredients
- Relevant simulation software.
- Design knowledge of the system to be simulated.
- A model of the real hardware, software or situation.
- An evaluation of the simulation.
Practice
Companies use simulation for efficiency reasons. Structural aspects can be analysed without costly hardware. Algorithm development is often checked using models of the system and the controller. Algorithm code can be automatically generated.
